At a wedding ceremony in Turkey, the bride's brother stood at the door and prevented his sister from leaving with the groom until he paid the amount negotiated for it.
This tradition is known there as “Kapı Parası” or “door money,” where the groom pays the money until the brother is satisfied, then he is allowed to take his bride.
